What you need for this experiment
4 Egg Dye Tablets
4 Boiled Eggs
4 Small Containers
Add an egg dye tablet to each of the containers.
Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to one container, 2 tablespoons of vinegar to another container, and 3 tablespoons of vinegar to a third container.
After tablets dissolve, add 1/2 cup water to each of the 4 containers.
Add a boiled egg to each container.
Wait 15 minutes and see which egg is dyed the best.
Why does it do that?
The egg dye is a type of dye called an acid dye. Vinegar is an acid and mixing it with the water will create the ideal conditions for the egg dye to color the egg. The more vinegar you use, the more acidic your dye solution. The more acidic your dye solution, the more the dye will adhere to your eggs. This is why the most brightly colored egg was the one with the most vinegar in the solution.
